The primary Zündapp motorcycle was the model Z22 in 1921. This was the Motorrad für Jedermann ("motorcycle pertaining to everyone"), a simple, reliable design that was produced in large series. Zündapp's history of weighty motorcycles began in 1933 using the K-series. The "K" refers to the drivetrain that these types used, Kardanantrieb, meaning enclosed driveshaft having two universal joints. Zündapp introduced the enclosed crankcase (then the novelty). The series encompassed versions from 200 to 900 cc displacement and was an essential success, increasing Zündapp's market share in Germany from 5% inside 1931 to 18% throughout 1937.The Zündapp KS600, first released in 1938, had a 28 h . p . After WWII the corporation transitioned to smaller products, notably the "Bella" engine scooter, which was a relatively heavy machine for the type. In 1951 Zündapp released the last of its heavy motorbike models, but one of its most well-known: the KS601 (this "green elephant") that has a 598 cc two-cylinder motor. From 1957 to 1958 the company also produced the Zündapp Janus microcar.In 1958 the business moved from Nuremberg in order to Munich. Subsequently, the company developed a number of new smaller models, discontinued the development of four-stroke engines in support of produced two-stroke models. After the bankruptcy, the entire production line and intellectual properties had been bought by Xunda Powerplant Co., Tianjin, China. They produced small Zündapp motorcycles from 1987 till earlier 1990s. Zündapp is still in business, but makes Honda based 4-stroke motorcycles and electric powered mopeds.Zündapp also had any technical collaboration with Regal Enfield (India) to build mopeds and motorcycles. A dedicated factory has been built at Ranipet near Chennai inside the early 1980s to make small, lightweight two-stroke motorcycles to be offered with their flagship Royal Enfield Topic. Enfield launched two 50 closed circuit motorcycles first, the step-thru Silver Plus and also the 3-speed Explorer motorcycle. Later, 175 cc Enfield Fury (depending on Zündapp KS175) was introduced being a performance motorcycle.
